Richlite kitchen island and breakfast bar

3m x 1.5m kitchen island worktop in black Richlite. The dense, durable and heatproof properties of this recycled paper composite make it an ideal material for hard wearing work surfaces. To overcome the problem of the island being wider than the largest size sheet of the material, a solution was devised to split it lengthways and inlay a strip of solid brass across the seam to hide the joint. This matched in with the detailing and fixtures used elsewhere in the kitchen. Brass welding and finishing by Joe Banfield Metalworks.
